@Kari it seems to me that the missing birthday alarms has a different cause than the one discussed here. The thread you linked to mention that the birthday entries are missing an alarm in the database....

Could it be the same reason, which causes the birthday calendar alarms to keep silence i.e. not giving alarm. Check the birthday alarm posts in TJC for more info, if that would help ad well.
